Under One Roof


The Vernon and Community Land Trust partnered with Kindale Developmental Association and Habitat for Humanity to build a six-plex, consisting of 4 family-oriented 3 bedroom townhouses and 2 accessible studio suites.  This model project was built with co-operation from the City of Vernon, BC Housing, Okanagan College along with discounted services and in-kind donations from many community professionals & businesses. It includes a children’s playground and community garden.

Creekside Village

Creekside Garden A - June 2015

The Land Trust took over ownership of what was known as The Ukrainian Village in July of 2012 in order that this important 75 unit building would remain safe & healthy low income housing for seniors.  A 1.9 million renovation to the building was managed by The Land Trust Board to include; new roof, new windows & doors, heating system, air conditioners, outdoor fencing, landscaping, new carpet, safety & security systems.  Complete renovation of all suites is a continuing priority.  A Full time property manager & maintenance manager oversee this property.  A common room and large garden invites a sense of community for tenants.

Pleasant Valley Road

The planned Pleasant Valley Road Project in Vernon is a grouping of three 4-plexes for a total of 12 units with a mix of unit types on one site targeted towards: seniors; individuals with disability; and families in need of affordable or market rental housing. We envision that tenants will interact with each other in the shared garden space and outdoor amenity, and that a sense of community will be created within the complex. Construction of this project is scheduled to start in the Summer of 2019.
